Information we collect

We may collect:

  • Information you enter into the newsletter form, such as your name and email address.
  • Basic technical information about your visit, such as device, browser, pages viewed and approximate location, if analytics cookies are accepted.
  • Your cookie preference, stored locally in your browser for about 6 months so we can remember your choice.

How we use it

Newsletter details are used to send updates and manage subscriptions through Mailchimp. Analytics information is used to understand how the site is performing and improve the experience. Cookie preference data is used only to remember and apply your consent choice.

Why we can use it

We rely on consent for newsletter sign-up and analytics cookies. We rely on necessity for storing your cookie preference so we can remember and apply the choice you made. Where we need to contact you about a subscription, we do so to provide the service you asked for and to manage that request.

Services we use

We expect to use Mailchimp for newsletter subscriptions and analytics tools such as GA4 or Contentsquare for measurement. Analytics tools should only run after analytics consent has been given. The newsletter form can submit to Mailchimp without loading Mailchimp tracking scripts. The site is hosted on Azure Static Web Apps. These services may process data outside the UK or EEA, and where that happens we expect appropriate transfer safeguards to be in place.

Mailchimp retention

Unsubscribed contacts are archived after 120 days. Unconfirmed contacts are deleted or archived after 60 days if they do not complete the opt-in.

Data retention

We keep newsletter records for as long as they are needed to manage subscriptions, send updates and apply the retention rules above. Cookie preference records are stored for about 6 months so we can remember your choice. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in GA4.

Your rights

Depending on the processing activity, you may have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. You may also have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you in a portable format.

Your choices

You can change cookie choices at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. You can also contact privacy@ikeafoundation.org to ask about access, correction or deletion of personal information.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can contact us first at privacy@ikeafoundation.org. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
