Cookie notice
This page explains how The Shift uses cookies and similar browser storage, including optional analytics and marketing.
What we use
The site uses local browser storage to remember your cookie choice. This is necessary so the site can respect the preference you selected. We may also use GA4 analytics cookies and marketing storage, but only if you choose to allow those categories.
Necessary storage
The consent choice is saved in your browser under the-shift-cookie-consent:v1. It records whether analytics and marketing storage are allowed, plus the date the choice was saved. We ask again after about 6 months so the consent remains current.
Analytics
If accepted, analytics tools such as GA4 or Contentsquare may use cookies or similar technologies to help measure visits, pages viewed and site performance. Analytics is off by default for all visitors and should not load before consent is given.
Marketing
Marketing storage is reserved for tools such as marketing pixels or Mailchimp tracking scripts if they are added. The plain newsletter form submission does not need marketing storage, but accepting all cookies enables this category for future marketing features.
Cookie-by-cookie details
At launch, the site only stores the consent record in your browser. If GA4 is enabled after consent, Google may also place analytics cookies or related storage. If marketing tools are added later, those tools may place their own cookies or local storage items.
Mailchimp retention
Unsubscribed contacts are archived after 120 days. Unconfirmed contacts are deleted or archived after 60 days if they do not complete the opt-in.
What this means in practice
We do not use the consent record to identify you outside this site. It exists so the site can remember whether you allowed analytics or marketing storage the next time you visit.
Changing your choice
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to accept, reject or update optional categories. You can also clear the site data in your browser to reset your saved choice.
